How to dress for: An art opening

Art openings are an excuse to throw on something directional – a look you might not experiment with when you’re having drinks with friends, or heading to a house party. Yes, we’re there to look at the art, but let’s admit it: we’re also looking at what everyone is wearing.
Our gallery look is white-on-white, and includes one of our favourite Nicobar items: the khadi overlay jacket. It’s sharp and structured, with beautiful details in the weave and pleating. Wear it over our cotton-silk camisole – a simple, well-cut sleeveless top will let the jacket’s design stand out. Keep things streamlined with our classic white cotton twill pants (roll the hems up for a flash of ankle). Throw on comfortable shoes – white trainers, or, for a bit of shine, metallic leather slides – and you’ll stand out (without distracting anyone from the art).
