Kochi Kurta

Deep blue cotton kora, a crinkled ghera, and gota that glints as you turn.

MRP

The Kochi Kurta, a long sleeveless deep blue cotton fit and flare kurta with a gota hem.

Three occasions

Where it goes

The Kochi Kurta, its ghera held out mid-turn against a floral backdrop.

A full ghera that lifts when you turn: made for the evening with dancing in it.

Close-up of the bodice of the Kochi Kurta: one antique gold jali flower sequin on deep blue cotton.

The details

Look for it: one gold jali flower

Fitted through the bodice, then it lets go: a long flare that opens into a full ghera. Triangle gota edges the U-neckline, front and back, and both armholes. A concealed zip sits at the centre back, with gunmetal snaps at the shoulders to hold bra straps in place.

One antique gold jali flower sequin sits on the bodice, small enough to miss from across the room.

Craftsmanship

Cotton kora, antique gota

It begins with the cloth: 100% cotton kora, which gives the fit and flare both structure and movement. The lower half of the ghera is crinkled, so it moves when you do. Antique gota finishes the hem, catching the light at every turn.

A PLACE YOU CAN REMEMBER BY SCENT

Walk into our store and you’ll find Neroli in the air. It has become a familiar part of stepping into Nicobar.

There’s a personal reason we chose Neroli, as it brings a certain warmth and happiness that’s hard to put into words.

“It’s my mother’s favourite scent and it reminds me of being close to the ocean. It’s nostalgic and fresh.”

Simran Lal, Co-founder, Nicobar
